The shame of weight regain.

Yesterday I wrote about the negative effects of guilt on overall functioning and wellness, leading to depression and low self-esteem, which can be highly negatively life changing. It is also a major inhibitor to reaching goals, or even having the confidence to try.

Shame and guilt play a huge role specifically in the journey of weight loss. You may feel guilty for over-eating, not staying perfectly on plan, missing a workout, etc. There is also guilt associated with weight gain or regain after loss. This guilt can be debilitating and only make it more likely you will gain more weight, engage in unhealthy behavior to lose weight, or stay where you are; as well as reducing emotional health.
