If you read yesterday’s blog, you’ll already know I went to the States for a shopping trip. If you didn’t, go back and read it then come back here.
I have a thing for workout clothes much to my husbands chagrin. Tanks, fitness bras, running socks – yes socks, running tops, long running tights-winter and summer of course, capri length tights; oh I could go on. My closet is looking like an outlet store. There’s just something about the way a new fitness item makes me feel, like a new sense of fit purpose. Not that I was in a slump but, well, the item says “take me for a run, come on, you know you want to” and I have to jump into the outfit and go. Surprisingly I run better/workout harder with the new clothes. I use the purchase of new workout clothes as my reward for making healthy choices in my food and fitness. It motivates me and I deserve it! (my husband may disagree).
So I went to the Nike Outlet in Burlington and tried to contain my excitement. I tried on a dozen things all the while listening to my husband pace outside the dressing room, frantically calculating what I had brought into the change room. $$$$$ I’m not crazy and we do stick to a budget so I chose the 2 items I liked best. Ok 3, but the last one just slipped onto the counter and what was I supposed to do…put it back? Pfft, umm no, how insulting to the cashier…I joke…but not really! In my defense re the 3rd item it was brought to the change room by Jeff who said “this will look good on you” so I didn’t want to insult him by putting it back, right? I settled on long grey running tights, a blue and black tank and a pretty pink swirly tank which matches my tights, of course!
I will wear these tomorrow, my scheduled run day. Now if it were nicer out I would pair it with:
But alas, it is still chilly out here on Vancouver Island so I will reserve this tank for treadmill runs. This is the tank my husband picked- he doesn’t like prints
So now I have more mix and match items to motivate me. All in all these purchases cost $70.97, I shop the clearance racks! Not bad considering one pair of tights at a retail shop will run you (no pun intended haha) roughly $79.99.
Now I need to continue my wonderful, joyful, liberating journey in food and fitness and work up to another reward…shh don’t tell Jeff
Do you find new workout gear motivating?
