#plankaday and…nope, nothing else!

Another 30 seconds and you can stop…insert facial grimace here! I found a new activity to participate in and it only takes minutes a day and you’re almost laying down to do it! Ahahaha…ever do a plank? Let me tell you, it’s nothing like laying down! You read the posts on Twitter and FB pages and think pfft, 3 minutes holding a plank, how hard is that. Let me just do this…HA. HA. HA. Ummm, remove pfft here! IT IS HARD! I was able to hold the plank for:

my well earned time!

I am going to have rock hard sore abs by the weekend ;) Crunches be gone, there’s a new kid in town :) I have long given up the thought that crunches are the way to flatter abs and have engaged in moves that will stabilize my core and back. This is one more move to fit in daily and of course I will tweet it to #plankaday…I mean really, why plank if you’re not telling the world you’re doing it! I kid! ;) (sort of…) haha

Planking in the morning sun….

There are many modifications and variations to planks and there was that whole ‘planking’ movement…is that still going on? I tend to be a little behind the trends :p

hmmm…wonder how long they held that plank?

There are side planks, regular planks, planks with leg lifts, planks with arm raises, planks on stability balls, planks with legs elavated…plank, plank, plank! I’m exhausted thinking about a plank with leg raise!

Now your challenge for the week is to work on increasing your plank time incrementally each day. Set a stopwatch…download Gymboss app, egg timer, whatever and get planking!

OOOPS wrong plank ;)

Thanks to Lea from Running for Dummies for the plank push http://www.runningfordummies.net/

do you plank?

tell me what variation of plank you love best.

in strong abs and health

I did planks in reformer today. One was a one legger off the side of the machine while lifting the free leg–talk about groaning–didn’t hold it longer than 30 sec to a min though–several times in a row. WTG on holding for 3+ mins!

yay! I’d love to try a reformer pilates class…that is what you’re referring to right? LOL It hurts to hold the plank but it really does help the core ;)

Denise, I am planking-3 days into it…1:08 was my longest so far. I miss pilates classes…gotta find one again. I start shaking after 15 seconds…but I keep it going. I need to put a magazine under me to read while I do it..maybe I can get a much longer time :)

I try to actually read the magazine and I seem to read the same line over and over! lol I break out into a sweat after about 1 min. It must be doing something ;)

Hi Denise! Loving your blog! You are so inspiring!
I’ve just started planking. My coach can hold for 10:10! I’m up to 2:30. Heard so many good things about doing the plank to build up the core. I’d rather plank than crunch any day :)
